General Aspects about Colombia
Colombia is part of the select group of countries with the greatest biodiversity on the planet, and its territory is home to 1,966 bird species (Echeverry-Galvis et al. 2022), making it the number one country in the world for bird diversity. This lush territory, composed of mountains, mountain ranges, valleys, deserts, islands, seas, savannas, grasslands, dry forests, and high-altitude forests in the South American tropics, offers an ideal climate for visiting at any time of the year and experiencing the best adventures.
These environmental characteristics are the home of cheerful, spontaneous, dynamic, and hardworking people who express their daily life through written, oral, and dance traditions that strengthen their connection to this beautiful land.
For all these reasons and more, we want you to come to Colombia and discover our traditions and biodiversity in this marvelous corner of the world bathed in exuberant beauty.
General Aspects about Valle del Cauca (state)
Located in the southwest of Colombia, between the Central Mountain Range and the Pacific Ocean, Valle del Cauca is home to 11% of Colombia’s plant species and nearly 50% of its animal species (Bolívar et al. 2004), including 989 bird species that inhabit the diverse ecosystems of this beautiful region (Cárdenas et al. 2020).
Valle del Cauca offers a rich cultural scene centered around music and folklore, known as the Salsa Capital of the World. It hosts various festivals, such as the Petronio Álvarez Pacific Music Festival, the most important Afro-Caribbean cultural festival in Latin America, the Mono Núñez Andean Colombian Music Festival, and the Bandola Festival, among others.
This abundant biological and cultural wealth is waiting for you to create lasting experiences in the hearts of visitors.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Jose from TakeMeToColombia.Travel, and I received ongoing support from him throughout a transnational Academic Global Immersion trip we organized with 15 student participants from the University of San Francisco (California, United States) and Javeriana University in Cali, Colombia. Jose from Take Me to Colombia provided excellent communication, logistical coordination, and personalized the experience to meet the needs of students and our team of professors during our entire 10-day trip. He went above and beyond to ensure that students received the highest quality learning and cultural experience, leaving a lasting impression on our students and me as the co-instructor of the trip. Jose from Take Me to Colombia shows great dedication to his role, genuinely cares about the needs of all stakeholders, and serves as an invaluable cultural ambassador (for most American students, this was their first time in Colombia and Latin America). I can truly say that our trip experience would have been very different without his support.

Wow, my experience visiting Colombia for 10 days was amazing and I felt very present along the way! The warmth and local knowledge of our guides really helped me feel secure and allowed me to try new things that Colombian culture had to offer. The activities were designed in a very well thought out manner and catered to my group’s needs; we were a small group of 10 college students from the United States conducting research. I would highly recommend choosing Take Me to Colombia if you want a fantastic immersive experience. I’m sharing this testimonial because I can’t thank them enough for the beautiful memories I have based on the activities they planned and the wonderful information they shared about Colombia.
